Course Description:

This course is designed for individuals who intend to perform examination and treatment intervention of people with various types of neurological dysfunction such as brain injury, brain tumors, stroke, spinal cord injury, Parkinson’s disease, Guillian-Barre syndrome, post-polio syndrome, infectious disease, cerebellar disease and peripheral nerve injury. Evidence-based practice will be placed into a practical and useable format through lecture, lab demonstrations and case study / video experiences .

Presenter: Ann Newstead, PT, PhD, GCS, NCS, CEEAA

Dr. Newstead is a graduate of the University of Alabama with a Masters in Physical Therapy and a graduate of the State University College in Potsdam, New York in Biology and Chemistry. Ann has worked .in rehabilitation inpatient, outpatient and home health settings in Houston and San Antonio areas in staff and supervisory capacities. She has participated in clinical or didactic faculty positions since 1987 and currently is practicing home health in San Antonio, Texas. Ann received her Neurological Clinical Specialization in 1994 and received her Geriatric Clinical Specialization in 2005. She is currently conducting research in the area odf older adults, persons with neurological dysfunctions and persons with amputations at the VA/UTHSCSA Movement and Gait Analysis Lab .
