COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This is a course that is designed to allow the physical therapist , occupational therapist and assistants additional education in the area of vestibular rehabilitation from a beginning to intermediate level of knowledge by understanding the vestibular system; performing an examination, designing and implementing treatment intervention and a management plan of care with patients who experience vestibular dysfunction – peripheral or central.

PRESENTER: Ann Newstead, PT, PhD, GCS, NCS, CEEAA

Dr. Newstead is a graduate of the University of Alabama with a Masters in Physical Therapy and a graduate of the State University College in Potsdam, New York in Biology and Chemistry. Ann has worked .in rehabilitation inpatient, outpatient and home health settings in Houston and San Antonio areas in staff and supervisory capacities. She has participated in clinical or didactic faculty positions since 1987 and currently is practicing home health in San Antonio, Texas. Ann received her Neurological Clinical Specialization in 1994 and received her Geriatric Clinical Specialization in 2005. She is currently conducting research in the area of older adults, persons with neurological dysfunctions and persons with amputations at the VA/UTHSCSA Movement and Gait Analysis Lab.
