LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
At completion of this program, the participants will be able to:
Develop a knowledge and understanding of the essential physical, physiological and therapeutic concepts involved with the use of superficial heating and cooling devices, conversive heating modalities, ultrasound, electrical stimulation and phototherapy
Evaluate and record the results of tests for skin status, circulatory integrity, thermal and pain sensitivity
Develop a theoretical knowledge and practical application of the safety requirements necessary with superficial heating and cooling devices, conversive heating modalities, ultrasound, electrical stimulation and phototherapy
Evaluate and record the effectiveness of each treatment and make appropriate alterations to the selection of dosage or modality which may affect the plan of care
Develop an ability to critically evaluate the treatment outcome of a plan of care that includes the clinical use of superficial heating and cooling, conversive heating modalities, ultrasound, eelctrical stimulation and phototherapy
PRESENTER: Giovanni De Domenico, PhD, M.Sc, MCSP, MAPA
Dr. De Domenico is a professor and chairman of the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. De Domenico has published his work extensively; with more than 35 publications, including 4 books and monographs. He has presented over 30 papers/posters at scientific conferences and has presented more than 120 continuing education lectures/courses in Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia, Europe and North America. He has been active member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) in the U.K., the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) and the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA); having served on many local and national committees.
