COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course is designed to give physical therapists an overview of the latest evidence on examination of risk factors for falling and interventions to reduce risk of falling. The course will provide information for therapists working in various practice settings, including acute care, home health, long term care, and outpatient care. The course is designed to provide laboratory practice of both examination and evidence based interventions in order to facilitate practical implementation in a variety of practice settings

PRESENTER: Anne Harrison, PT, PhD

Anne Harrison, PT, PhD, is an associate professor at the University of Kentucky Division of Physical Therapy. She teaches gerontology in the DPT curriculum, and has been an invited speaker on the topic of falls reduction for audiences including physicians, hospitals, home health agencies, long term care organizations, and outpatient care companies, and has completed research in the area of motor control and aging.   She has developed and produced multimedia educational venues for both patients and professionals to address issues related to falls and safety.
